about

I worked with Jan Allen a long time advocate for the Indian intentional community of Auroville and mystic on a realisation fo the poet Vidyapati. Allen was stuck in Australia and missed her beloved community of India.

Sometimes described as the Chaucer of India (how typically colonialist), Vidyapati was born ass Maithil Kavi Kokil. He worked in the courts of various kings of the Oiniwar Dynasty of Mithila. He wrote some five hundred love songs, primarily between 1380 and 1406. The songs he composed after that period were devotional praises of Shiva, Vishnu, Durga, and Ganga.
